First Annual Sarcoidosis Walk - A - Thon Held In Red Deer, Alberta September 9, 2012.
Bower Ponds in Red Deer Alberta hosts paved walk paths for easy walking so it is suitable for all ages and abilities. The pathway is 1.5km long and goes completely around the ponds. It is one of Alberta's best kept secrets for beauty and wild life as you stroll you have lot's to look at and enjoy.

The day marked a milestone for the National Sarcoidosis Organization as this event was the first major fundraiser held to raise funds for research, resources and awareness in Canada. The organizers of the event were Melany Sealy, Dawn Smith and Cheryl Gould who worked endlessly at planning and organizing for the day which turned out to be fantastic.
The event raised over $4000.00 which will go towards research and the production of brouchures to be placed across Canada to promote awareness for Sarcoidosis.

With a good turn out and plenty of sunshine the day was full of smiles and fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were able to relax after with lunch, door prizes, silent auction and Melany Sealy speaking about the disease and the organization. Three younger girls also added to the entertainment with a song that they made up.
